Morning Trainer with Shannon - Shady 133 PCH BB Loop

Strava:  http://app.strava.com/rides/9708806

Typically, winds in the morning seem fairly mild or even non-existent making for optimal riding conditions.  However, this morning Mother Nature must have missed that memo.  The temperature was ideal, however, so 1 out of 2 isn't bad.

It was just Shannon and me this morning, so I was forced to suffer alone. HA HA.  We did agree to take it easy up and warm up for a bit, which was pretty much the case up through Anteater, but it did pick up once we crossed Bonita canyon.

Now one personal observation I have riding with Shannon on this loop vs. Galen is that the intensity curve seems to be a lot flatter.  It's less surgy (if that's a word) than Galen, but still very high and just more consistent throughout.  In any case, both are a bear to follow.

We did take turns throughout the ride giving each other breaks when needed, so it was non-stop pedaling throughout.

We opted to go straight to Back Bay, which is not really easier by any means.  I was hoping we can catch a break from the wind being that it never really seemed to get behind us, but Back Bay wasn't much different.  We still powered through it averaging over 25 mph for the most part, but we both faded a lot by the time we got to the top where Shannon outmuscled me.

We continued onto to University and eventually up California, where the rotations were perfect.  Good BRCM teamwork throughout resulting in a 22.5 mph average for the ride.

Great way to start a day.  Thanks, Shannon!
